A recent Huntsville transplant, Donna Ruiz was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. She began playing violin in Junior High and participated in school and community youth orchestras. After majoring in Music Education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Mrs. Ruiz moved to Savannah, GA and taught elementary general music and 2nd through 8th grade string orchestra classes as well as played with the Savannah Philharmonic and Beaufort, South Carolina Symphony. She also joined the Savannah Goliards where she played the vielle (medieval fiddle) with John Hillenbrand. She has since settled into the musical life of Huntsville where she is on the faculty at Valley Conservatory where she teaches strings through their music education program at Oakwood Adventist Academy. She also plays with the Valley Conservatory Lyceum Orchestra and other various local ensembles.
